Cooking Demonstration
Join us on Tuesday July 22 at 1 pm for a cooking demonstration & tasting on Cooking & Gardening with Edible Flowers. The presentation is by Creative Feast. This is a free program but space is limited. Please register in person, or call the library at 781.231.4168.

Book Group
The book group is not meeting in July. The next meeting is August 13, 2014. Join us to discuss Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf.

Museum Passes

The library now has passes to the Peabody Essex Museum and Zoo New England in addition to to the Children’s Museum, the Museum of Science and the Museum of Fine Arts.

To reserve passes please call or stop by the Circulation Desk (781.231.4168 ext. 12). Thank you to the New Friends of the Saugus Public Library for funding the purchase of these new museum passes.

Summer Reading Is Not Just for Kids!

The Library’s summer reading program summer reading program has started.

Adults, kids and teens, are all invited to participate. There will be prizes and surprises for everyone!

Summer reading is coming up! Get ready by joining us on Tuesday June 3 from 3 – 4 p.m. when we will be making bookmarks using paper, stamps, craft sticks and sharpies.

Artist Gregory Maichack Returning to the Library
Popular artist Gregory Maichack will be presenting “Sublime Sunflowers,” a hands-on pastel workshop for adults. Learn to paint like the Masters, and bring home your own masterpiece!

Greg’s classes always fill quickly so please stop by the library to register. A $5.00 cash fee for materials is due at the time of registration.

New Friends of the Saugus Public Library Annual Meeting

The annual meeting of the New Friends of the Saugus Public Library will be held on Wednesday, June 4 at 6:00 p.m.

At the meeting we will elect officers and board members for the coming year. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome to join or renew their memberships and get involved. We’d love to see you!

Ambassador Jim Jeffrey will be at the Town Hall
The Foundation for the Saugus Public Library is proud to present Ambassador Jeffrey at The Ellen Burns Speaker Forum.

Please join us on Thursday, May 15th from 7 – 9 pm at Saugus Town Hall.

Ambassador Jeffrey will speak on the role of civil discourse and building consensus in diplomacy, including his experiences in Iraq and the White House.

Author Marilynne K. Roach is Coming to the Library

Join us Monday, May 19, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. for a discussion of her latest book “Six Women of Salem: the Untold Story of the Accused and their Accusers in the Salem Witch Trials”.

This free event is sponsored by the New Friends of Saugus Public Library. Refreshments will be served.

New Friends of the Saugus Public Library

The Friends are having a fudge sale just in time for Mother’s Day. The fudge is $8 a pound and available in chocolate or chocolate walnut. Proceeds benefit the Library.

In addition, on Monday, May 5 the Friends are promoting Kelly’s
Restaurant for dinner. The Friends will receive a portion of the
proceeds when anyone presents a coupon for their meal. Please get your coupons before going as they can not be handed out at Kelly’s.

We also have bookbags with the Saugus Public Library logo
which are available at the circulation desk for $3 each.
