Spelling bias

Definition

Spelling bias happens when subjects answer a certain way because they were previously distracted when shown a somewhat related word. For instance, during an implicit memory experiment, a group who is first shown the words "juicy steak" will most likely write down the word "meat" as opposed to spelling it as "meet" when asked to write down the word.

Significance

.Spelling bias allows you to manipulate the response of a group by presenting the stimuli that are supposed to increase the likelihood of a written response to a verbal stimuli later.
