Experiment Summary

Subject saw a red dot in one of four locations on a computer screen. If the dot appeared to the far left they pressed "z", if the middle left "x", middle right "." and far right "/". Each subject is randomly assigned to either the pattern group where dots are presented in a pattern, or a random group where dots are presented arbitrarily and do not follow a pattern.

Independent Variable(s)

Whether or not presented dots follow a certain pattern.

Dependent Measure(s)

Amount of time to respond for correct answers.

Expected Results

It is expected that response time will decrease over trials for participants in both the pattern and random groups. It is also expected that there will be a grater decrease in response time for participants identifying the dots presented in a pattern.
