Episodic memory

Definition
Episodic memory is memory for specific personal events or experiences that have occurred to the person having the memory. This, along with episodic memory, is one of the sub types of memory under declarative memory (memory which includes things that can be described in words). It is also important to note that not all recounts of personal experiences (these episodic memories) are always accurate.

Significance
Episodic memory is important because it involves mental time travel, which means that when we have an episodic memory, we travel back in time to remember and reconnect with events that have happened in the past. This is also significant because we can consciously (we are aware it is happening) recall the past at any point in our lives. .
