In honor of Women’s History Month, McQuade Library is testing several databases relating to issues and history of women, men, and LGBT life, including publications from World War I. - GenderWatch (ProQuest) – Trial thru April 4, 2014
a repository of important historical perspectives on the evolution of the women’s movement, men’s studies, the transgendered community and the changes in gender roles over the years. Publications include scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, regional publications, books and NGO, government and special reports. It includes archival material back to the 1970s.

Gender Studies Database combines Women’s Studies International and Men’s Studies databases with the coverage of sexual diversity issues. GSD covers the full spectrum of gender-engaged scholarship inside and outside academia. This database includes more than 921,000 records with coverage spanning from 1972 and earlier to the present.
- LGBT Life with Fulltext (EBSCOhost) – Trial thru 4-28-2014
LGBT Life with Full Text contains all of the content available in LGBT Life as well as full text for more than 120 of the most important and historically significant LGBT journals, magazines and regional newspapers, as well as more than 150 full-text monographs and books. The database includes comprehensive indexing and abstract coverage as well as a specialized LGBT Thesaurus containing over 6,400 terms.

- The Gerritsen Collection of Aletta H. Jacobs (Chadwyck) – Trial thru April 4, 2014
On campus only. In the late 1800’s, Dutch physician Aletta Jacobs and her husband C.V. Gerritsen began collecting books, pamphlets and periodicals reflecting the evolution of a feminist consciousness and the movement for women’s rights, now providing a source for the study of women’s history in the world.
- Women’s Studies International (EBSCOhost) – Trial thru 4-28-2014
WSI, produced by NISC, covers the core disciplines in Women’s Studies to the latest scholarship in feminist research. Coverage includes more than 871,000 records and spans from 1972 and earlier to present. This database supports curriculum development in the areas of sociology, history, political science & economy, public policy, international relations, arts & humanities, business and education. Over 2,000 periodical sources are represented. Included in Gender Studies Database above.
- Trench Journals and Unit Magazines of the First World War (ProQuest) – Trial thru April 4, 2014
An archival research resource containing a vast collection of rare magazines by and for servicemen and women of all nations during the First World War. Over 1,500 periodicals written and illustrated by serving members of the armed forces and associated welfare organisations published between 1914 and the end of 1919 are included. Magazines have been scanned cover-to-cover, in full colour or greyscale, and with granular indexing of all articles and specialist indexing of Publications.
- Communication Source (EBSCOhost) – Trial thru April 28, 2014
This source combined our current subscription to the classic Communications Abstracts with EBSCOhost’s Commmunications and Mass Media Complete including the full-text content from publications worldwide pertaining to Communication, Linguistics, Rhetoric and Discourse, Speech-Language Pathology, Media Studies and related fields.
